Subject: State Board of Guide Dogs for the Blind - Sunset Review 2013

Dear Stakeholders:
The State Board of Guide Dogs for the Blind (Board) is currently under
sunset review. The sunset review process is a legislative process put in
place to ensure that Boards are held accountable, operate efficiently, and
meet their mission of consumer protection.  The Board is scheduled for a
hearing by the Senate Business, Professions and Economic Development
Committee and the Assembly Business, Professions and Consumer Protection
Committee at the State Capitol, in Room 4203 on Monday, March 11, 2013. The
hearing will begin at 9:00 a.m. and break for general session at 2:00 p.m.
returning after session for the remainder of the Committee hearing. The
order of the Boards under Sunset Review are as follows:
Medical Board of California
Osteopathic Medical Board
Naturopathic Medicine Committee
Board of Optometry
Board of Chiropractic Examiners
Board of Guide Dogs for the Blind

When the Board is called, the schedule will be as follows:

A.	Overview of the program (5 minutes)
B.	Board response to issues, problem areas, questions and staff
recommendations (20 minutes)
C.	Public Comment (15 minutes)
D.	Comment by licensees, consumers, members of the public (15 minutes) 
E.	Closing Comments by Board (5 minutes)

Two weeks before the hearing, any interested party can access the Senate
Business and Professions and Economic Development Committee background paper
with issues and recommendations at
