Good morning everyone:
This is in follow-up to our discussion about changing the date and location of the seminar. We discussed holding the seminar from 1:00-4:00 on Thursday, before the board meeting, at the convention in October.
I spoke to Mary last night around 9:00. I let her know we'd like to hold the seminar from around 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday before the board meeting. Mary asked why we wanted to do that and I explained a number of the reasons we talked about during our meeting. Mary asked if we couldn't hold it after the board meeting and I said that we wouldn't have time for a three-hour seminar after the board meeting, and we wouldn't be likely to get the speakers or the attendance at that time. We also discussed the possibility of holding the seminar on Friday because the agenda hasn't been set yet. I said CAGDU hadn't really discussed that, but that I didn't think we'd want to have a four hour meeting on Friday because we'd miss other things we were interested in attending. Resolutions, for example, at 9:00 a.m. Mary said she understood that. She also said she is considering a possible event, like the previous walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, and she'd like some time to think about whether we can hold our seminar on Thursday. It seems the big concern is that our seminar on Thursday would conflict with any pre-convention activity she might plan. She said if she hasn't decided by the board meeting (April 1-3) to make sure to bring it up then.
Here are my questions for CAGDU:
How do you feel if we don't know for sure until April 3? Is there any problem with not knowing by April 3?
Also, I'll make a bullet-point list about why we'd like to have it before the convention. The purpose of the list is to help us discuss it at the board meeting in April. I'll send it along to everyone. I would really appreciate help filling in any reasons I miss.
Also, please let me know if you think it would work to hold the seminar Friday. I assumed there would be too many other things we would all like to attend. I don't want to take convention attendees away from other meetings. Similarly, I don't want to lose other people because they're interested in other things as well. What do you think?
