Hello chapter members: I have what is perhaps a unique request

I have been a member here for a couple of years now after many years as a
member of the local CCB/ACB chapter.

When I first lost my vision in early 2009 I ended up at the Blind Center in
San Jose and absorbing all I could from their large membership I was told in
no uncertain terms that the NFB held very different ideas about living an
independent life including not providing sighted guides at conventions,
disaprooving of guide dogs etc.

Needless to say, but I will say it anyway, I have found everyone involved in
this chapter to be wonderful, supportive and not at all evil.

Here is my ask: what do you see as the difference between NFB and CCB?

My specific reason for asking is that there are a few new members of the
local CCB chapter who I think would make great members of our chapter here
and I want to be able to answer that question for them.

They are GDB handlers, very active in their advocacy and very engagning in
topics concerning their community. One is a long time handler and blind from
a very young age and the other new to vision loss. There are others who are
good candidates and most are much younger then I.

Look forward to your replies. I would like to invite them to be part of our
next meeting so if you have an idea of what topics we have to cover please
let me know. Especially the discussion topics that are so interesting form
past meetings.
