NFB Silicon Valley Chapter Meeting
January 12, 2019

Present:
Kyle Garcia, Kevin Andrews, Brian Buhrow, Nanci Amolsch, Tim Elder

call to order at 3:15PM

1.  listened to presidential release

2.  Discuss upcoming Washington Seminar.  Kyle and Tim are going.  there
was some discussion of how to get appointments with congressional members.
Brian agreed to send Kyle a sample introductory letter.

3.  Discussion of first time grants for national convention attendees.
Encouraged Kevin to apply for one, either the Radcliff  grant or the Jernigan
grant offered from the National Office.  Anyone else who would like to go
for the first time to the national convention to be held in las Vegas in
July 2019 should apply for one or both of these grants.  Details on the NFB
of California web site: http://www.nfbcal.org, or, for the national grant,
http://nfb.org.

4.  Kyle is working on getting the chapter a tax ID number.  That appears
to be a necessary step before getting the chapter a bank account.  Tim
agreed to help Kyle with this process if he needs it.

5.  A discussion about where to meet in upcoming months.  Everyone likes
the MLK Library location, but there is some frustration about not having a
fixed place to meet in the building.  Tim proposes staking a claim on the
fourth floor in one of the group study areas each month.  That is the
tentative plan going forward.  

6.  Next meeting to be held, Saturday February 16, 2019 at 3:00PM at the
MLK Library.  Exact location inside the library to be announced.
