Hi all. I sent a message to
a discussion board my class was having and one of the women gave me a very good
suggestion I thought I'd pass along to the group.

She said:

find out if any of the guide dog users
shops
regularly at a specific store where they are known. She felt that
store would most
likely become a regular donor if they realized it was only a
few cases of treats

or small items.

Even the bigger chains like petco and petsmart or
even Albertsons sometimes it's easier to get a donation on the local level than
it is to try to go to the top and work your way down.

When I read her suggestion
I was thinking that
would be kind of like white cane charters. Once the people know
the
local person they feel like they are helping the customer and his/her dog
personally so they
make it a yearly donation and if we got a couple
stores involved we would have more
donations than we could use.

Also when you get local merchants involved, you
might get local speakers and they might as the taxi cab companies have done
decide to donate cash when they recognize how we are helping the
community.

I am continuing to work with Purina to see if we
can get them to sponsor us again.
