Yes! Here it is:

 

OC Guide Dogs Is planning an outing to the Irvine spectrum on Tuesday, June 22 starting at 11 AM and ending at 3:30 PM. We will start our adventure by meeting up in front of the Wolfpack dog bakery. For those with drivers there is a Nordstrom Parking Structure next to Del Frisco?s and Brio restaurants. You will have an opportunity to relieve and water your dogs across the street in the grassy area, before venturing into the Wolfpack Pet Kitchen and then over to the food courts for lunch. There is a great selection of fast food restaurants to choose from. Tables are socially distanced around the tree in the form of a clock! We will have a chance to socialize and get reacquainted. Following lunch, the Irvine spectrum security will treat us to a tour of the Irvine spectrum. We will walk back to the Wolfpack Pet Kitchen, relieve and water our dogs and  wait for our transportation. 

 

If you are interested in joining us on Tuesday the 22nd at the Irvine spectrum, call or text Mindy Wulff at 949-751-8411. 

 

ACCESS RIDERS: When ordering your ACCESS ride, all you need to say is that you want to go to the Irvine spectrum  and you will be dropped off/picked up by the Old Navy sign at the Westside Shuttle Stop. See the website below for further details on the Irvine spectrum.

Mark your calendars and make plans to join the National Association of Guide Dog Users for our 2021 Annual Seminar and Annual Business meetings. 

This year?s NAGDU Seminar will take place on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, from 1 PM to 4 PM Eastern. The seminar committee has been working hard to ensure that our seminar will be filled with great information, and of course our traditional door prizes. This year?s theme  is ?Celebrating Puppy Raisers Everywhere.? In addition, the seminar will feature a veterinary piece, updates from guide dog training programs and our advocacy component will prepare everyone for this year?s resolutions. 

 

The NAGDU annual business meeting will take place on Thursday, July 8, 2021, from 1 PM to 3 PM Eastern. During the business meeting we will hold our annual elections, hear from our legal department, and learn about all the things NAGDU has been up to over the past year.

The seminar typically takes place on the third Sunday of every month unless otherwise noted. Dear CAGDU membership: 
It has come to my attention that several of you were uncomfortable at our
CAGDU meeting on June 8,2021 with my stress level or should I say tone while
conducting the meeting. I apologize if my tone came across as harsh and
unwelcoming. Now that my technical issues have been handled, I will make an
effort to keep my tone in check. Now with that said, I want to let the
membership know that it has been an experience serving as your CAGDU
President. However, is time to start the transition. I want CAGDU to keep
moving forward and I wish the very best for the division's growth. My term
is up at our October State convention along with all of your CAGDU Board
Members and I have elected to term out. Thank you all very much for your
commitment and service to CAGDU.

Hello everyone!

As we begin to see some faint light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, we need to update you on our current protocols and operations.

After not having classes for five months last year, and limiting the size of our classes held since August to 10 or 12 instead of our usual 20 to 24, we have unfortunately having a growing but manageable waiting list. Although our summer classes are filled, we expect to increase the size of classes slightly as the year progresses - and hope to reach more or less ?normal? capacity by early next year.

For those of you who are waiting for a class date, we strongly encourage you to take advantage of this time and work on getting as much walking in as you possibly can. As many of you know, it is important that your overall fitness and stamina be at its best before meeting the physical challenges that come with training with your new dog. For those of you who have not yet worked with a dog, please also bear in mind that it would be to your advantage to use this time to develop and strengthen your independent travel skills.

Lastly, for those of you who are planning to replace within the next year or so, we suggest you go ahead and get your applications in. That way we'll know what your tentative schedule is and can plan accordingly. We ask for your patience and assure all of you that we will do the best we can to minimize your waiting time as much as we possibly can.

As of our last update in March, most students coming into class needed to quarantine in Morristown for two weeks prior to their arrival on campus. Now, incoming students who are vaccinated do not need to quarantine (we do ask for proof of vaccination via a copy or photo of your vaccination card). Those who are not vaccinated still need to quarantine at The Best Western Hotel, here in Morristown, for two weeks immediately preceding your class date, but we highly encourage vaccination. As before, The Seeing Eye will cover the cost of your two-week stay in exchange for a $50.00 contribution from you. The Best Western provides breakfast to its guests and we will deliver lunch and dinner from Monday through Friday, with the exception of the second Friday when there is no food service on campus. The Seeing Eye will continue to provide your transportation costs whether you quarantine in the hotel or not.

While in class, in keeping with CDC and New Jersey guidance, you will no longer be required to wear a mask outside, but as per New Jersey rules for residential schools we must continue to wear a mask while indoors and practice social distancing. We have now had nine classes since we reopened last August and are proud that we have not had any instance of COVID infection in class. We will continue to remain on the cautious side as we move forward. Despite the temporary restrictions and limitations, the students that we have served have truly enjoyed the benefits of the smaller class sizes.

As we know, protocols will evolve constantly as we travel together on this roller-coaster, and we will send another update as soon as the next changes develop. Until then we send you our best wishes and assure you that we are here for you!

National Association of Guide Dog Users, NAGDU, is hosting.

First, as many of you are aware by now, NAGDU has submitted three
resolutions for consideration at this year's NFB National Convention. We
would like to invite as many people as possible to come join us for an
informal Q&A session where we will discuss these resolutions and answer
questions about them.

The resolutions Q&A session will take place this Wednesday, June 23,
2021 at 8 PM Eastern. This calculates to 7 PM Central, 6 PM Mountain, and 5
PM pacific.

If you are not able to come to this meeting, we will discuss the resolutions
once more at our annual seminar during the NFB national convention. If you
have not already done so, we highly encourage you to register for both
events that NAGDU is hosting. The NAGDU annual seminar will take place on
Tuesday, July 6, 2021, 1-4 PM Eastern and the NAGDU annual business meeting

The National Association of Guide Dog Users would like to invite you to our next Yappy hour. The Yappy hour is a virtual social gathering to socialize and have a good time.

 

Whether you are a current guide dog user, a former guide dog user, thinking about becoming a guide dog user, are friends with other guide dog users, have any sort of connection with guide dog users no matter how tenuous, or simply think that guide dog users are cool, we hope you will join us this Saturday on Zoom.

The National Association of Guide Dog Users would like to invite you to our next Yappy hour. The Yappy hour is a virtual social gathering to socialize and have a good time.

 

Whether you are a current guide dog user, a former guide dog user, thinking about becoming a guide dog user, are friends with other guide dog users, have any sort of connection with guide dog users no matter how tenuous, or simply think that guide dog users are cool, we hope you will join us this Saturday on Zoom.

         

This informal meeting takes place every two weeks unless otherwise noted. By informal, we truly mean it. While serious topics about guide dog users may come up from time to time, we will not be holding any NAGDU or NFB business. The meeting information is as follows.
