A Special Invitation, from Audrey Gunter (President of Dixie Land Guide Dog
Users, Inc.) and Guide Dog, Jessie (Executive Director for the President.)

You are invited to.

Come, exercise your senses! Come, experience beautiful, historic
Charleston, South Carolina and find out for yourself why we were named the
"friendliest city in America!" Feel the relaxed, laid-back spirit of our
"Geechies" as you are met at the airport or at the hotel. Hear that
distinctive, whimsical yet oh, so melodic dialect of our native
Charlestonians. Listen to the beautiful music that is indigenous only to
Charleston, S.C. Wrap your lips around some of those delicious, "slap your
mama good" culinary delights that are associated only with our culture.
Taste some of those mouth-watering, lip-licking, tongue-tickling lowcountry
dishes that you've heard so much about. Let those olfactory senses inhale
the salt-water and tantalizing aromas as our chef prepares our evening
meals.

Come! Feel! Hear! Taste! Smell! Experience Charleston at our TOP
DOG-CHARLESTON "Funvention" to be held January 30 - February 1, 2015 at the
newly constructed, beautifully appointed Comfort Inn and Suites West Ashley!

Whether you are blind or sighted; use a guide dog, sighted guide or long,
white cane YOU are invited. If you are a puppy raiser, You are invited! If
you are familiar with accessible technology or if you know someone who is or
if you want to know more about it, Come! If you enjoy seeing old friends
and meeting new ones, come! If you want to just enjoy a wonderful weekend
in sunny Charleston, South Carolina, come! If you like dogs and want to
know more about them, come!

Dixie Land Guide Dog Users, Georgia Guide Dog Users and Guide Dog Users of
Florida proudly invite YOU to attend our Top Dog Charleston-2015
"Funvention" at the Comfort Inn & Suites (Savannah Highway), West Ashley,
Charleston, SC beginning Friday, January 30 through Sunday, February 1,
2015. We'll greet you with a big "welcome home" hug at the airport and
return you Sunday with a "so long" kiss!

We'll begin on Friday morning with an "Early Bird" optional Paws 4
Technology", where Kimberly Taylor and her guide, Abby, (Association for
the Blind and Visually Impaired) and Dixie Land's very own 2nd V.P., Brianna
Murray and her guide, Lacey will introduce us to the iPhone and iPad. The
lucky winner of our "Early Bird Door Prize" will win a fantastic carriage
ride through the historic streets of downtown Charleston, generously
provided by the nice folks of "Charleston Carriage Tours."

Be sure to check out the great stuff offered in our Exhibit Hall! We've
already gotten at least 6 guide dog schools committed, a Chocolatier, a
technology firm, a couple of jewelry representatives and a master
woodcrafter ready to show you what they've got. If you'd like a table in
our Exhibit Hall, please get your request in early. The Exhibit Hall will
be open all day Friday and Saturday and the general public will be invited
to visit it.

Our event will officially begin Friday evening with "Paws 2 Recognize",
featuring Pastor Ed Grant (Calvary Lutheran Church) and the brave veterans
from the VFW, followed by our Yappy Time! Bring your appetite 'cuz Jaimie
Westendorff (Charleston Outdoor Caterers) is going to cook up some of that
delicious "Frogmore Stew" that he's so famous for. Now, don't you worry!
No frogs are injured in the preparation of this delightful lowcountry dish.
In fact, it was originated in Frogmore, S.C. and contains giant shrimp;
sausage; corn on the cob and potatoes. For those who can't or don't eat
seafood, we'll have that good ol' southern fried chicken and, of course, all
the fixin's.

Our programs on Saturday start off with "The Blessing", featuring Music by
Laurel Jean with a couple of special pastors to officiate. This year we're
going to do a uniquely different tribute to our retired guides and a very
special service for those having crossed Rainbow Bridge. Pack lots of
tissues.

Dr. Ruth Roberts (Sun Dog Cat Moon) will return to tell us how we can help
keep our guides healthy and San LeBeauf is going to talk to us about having
to make final arrangements when our beloved guides cross "Rainbow Bridge."

Puppy Raisers! Puppy Raisers! Puppy Raisers! We all love puppy raisers
and we're going to have a group of them present to conduct an interactive
discussion where they tell us some of their favorite stories about the dogs
they've raised.

Our final program will be "Paws 4 Updates" where a panel of distinguished
guests tell us about the latest developments with airport in-house relief
areas and fake service dogs.

After a nice boxed lunch join us outside for an exciting motorcycle ride (in
a side car) or an exhilarating tandem bike ride with the Charleston Flyers.
If you're really up for a challenge, try your skills in our obstacle course.
The 4 legged finishers will get a Frosty Paw and their handlers, an ice
cream.

By the time dinner time comes around you'll be so hungry your hair will
hurt; but don't worry 'cuz Jaimie will be back with his world-famous all
you can eat barbecued pork and chicken! You should have just enough time to
swallow that last mouth-watering bite just before the renown Ann Caldwell
and the Magnolia Singers take the stage! Hold onto your hats 'cuz you ain't
never experienced anything like them! You're sure to be up on your feet and
shakin' your whatevers!

How much does all this cost? Well, can you believe registration is only $55
per person and includes a professionally done photo (Heidi Richie) of you
and your guide ; all meals; entertainment and a lovely bright blue t-shirt
boasting a guide dog in harness and a matching bandana for your guide?

The nice folks at the Comfort Inn & Suites are offering us an unbelievable
nightly rate of only $89.99 and each of their suites can accommodate up to 6
people. Of course, a tasty hot breakfast is included. They've even agreed
to honor that price for the entire week for those of us who want to come
early and stay longer. They have an indoor heated pool and well appointed
fitness room and are excited that we're holding our event at their facility.
You must make your hotel reservations directly through their Reservation
Department 843 769 9850. Be sure and tell them you're coming to Top
Dog-Charleston!

So, start pinching your pennies and wadding your Washingtons. You don't
want to miss all this fun, fellowship, food and furries! It will be so good
to see and greet our old friends and meet new ones!
