Hello Ken,
It sounds like Edison is on the mend, just make sure you let him
heal completely, and that he gets all of his medication.
You don't want to push him too fast and have a set back.
Take care,

Edison's back! He's not working yet, but here's how I know
things will be alright. When Edison was really hurting, our cat
Peaches would go up to him and sniff. Then she'd walk away. Now
she's back to being Edison's annoying little sister, wanting to
play; chase, batting him on the nose, etc. He wants to play
chase too and will run about half way down the hall. Then he
just stands there for a few seconds. Then he's off running
again. After a little while, he goes back to his bed, now with a
heating pad on top, and dozes the rest of the afternoon. I've
had him guide me from the kitchen to the front door, and he pulls
out in harness. I have a new project. You may have noticed that
my vet wasn't able to get the kind of ex-ray he wanted, so I'm
saving to get him a newer machine that can accommodate bigger
dogs. That's the problem. Dr. Bashra took over a practice that
saw small animals mostly. It may take me five years, but nobody
should have to put their animal through an unnecessary ride just
to get a decent ex-ray and diagnosis. Also, nobody should be on
the radar at their guide dog school just because of an accident.
That's like blaming the victim. Right now, I'm on the radar.
