He's not working yet, but here's how I know things will be alright. When Edison was really hurting, our cat Peaches would go up to him and sniff. Then she'd walk away. Now she's back to being Edison's annoying little sister, wanting to play; chase, batting him on the nose, etc. He wants to play chase too and will run about half way down the hall. Then he just stands there for a few seconds. Then he's off running again. After a little while, he goes back to his bed, now with a heating pad on top, and dozes the rest of the afternoon. I've had him guide me from the kitchen to the front door, and he pulls out in harness. I have a new project. You may have noticed that my vet wasn't able to get the kind of ex-ray he wanted, so I'm saving to get him a newer machine that can accommodate bigger dogs. That's the problem. Dr. Bashra took over a practice that saw small animals mostly. It may take me five years, but nobody should have to put their animal through an unnecessary ride just to get a decent ex-ray and diagnosis. Also, nobody should be on the radar at their guide dog school just because of an accident. That's like blaming the victim. Right now, I'm on the radar. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... You don't want to push him too fast and have a set back. Take care, Robert Stigile E-mail: rstigile at sbcglobal.net Skype: robertstigile1 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ken Volonte" Hi all. When Edison came in from the cold Rainey weather yesterday morning, he got himself warm by running at full tilt from one end of the house to the other end and back. "He's ready to go back to work", I said to myself; and so we made our quarterly trip to the tax office with Edison guiding me from the car into the building and back. I knew he could work, but I wasn't about to push the river. He pulled out in harness and his guide work was perfect. We didn't miss a beat. So tomorrow, we'll shop for groceries and spend a quiet day at home, but I'm glad he's back in harness. So is he. Functional tests like this have an analog to human experience. I was walking two months before I was supposed to after shattering my ankle on both sides. The real test was a full play bow. Bye for now. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
