Yes I have. Also, there was a discussion recently on the NAGDU list about
this same thing. They invite the public and so we can also go. They do not
need to block us.

Subject: [Cagdu] Ever taken your dog on a Navy ship?
Hi CAG Dudes and Dudettes,
Have any of you taken your dogs on Naval warships?
Yesterday, I was at a Navy open house at San Diego's Coronado
Island. As part of their Fleet Week festivities, many warships were
open for public tours. I was blocked from boarding the bus to the
ships. A Navy guy told me that the stairways were steep aboard the
ships were too steep for my guide dog.
I didn't believe him, since my dog can climb ladders, but I didn't
want to hassle with the guy. That, and it was a long hot sunny day,
and I wondered how hot the decks of those ships got. I didn't want
Churchill to fry his feet.
Have any of you taken your dogs on Naval warships?
What was it like?
How hard was it on the dog?
Thanks,
Fred and Churchill
