legislature till Jan 2012 to determine whether the board continues as a

On June 16, SB 294 (Negrete McLeod) was gutted and amended to include
legislative language that was originally in SB 1171 (Negrete McLeod).
While we cannot vote or discuss the bill at the meeting next week, I did
want to send you the status and text of the bill for your information.
What I have been told is that instead of going under review July 1, 2011
and either turning into a program/bureau or continuing as a Board
January 1, 2012, the review would occur January 1, 2012 and a
determination would be made that same day.  Not sure how that would
work, but I have been told that it would give the legislature six extra
months to determine extension or review.
