[Cagdu] Billy update, the final chapter

Hi all.  Today I called Stockton Animal Control because I wanted to be there 
when they did a behavioral evaluation on the Sorel Pit who attacked Billy. 
The dog was euthanized yesterday.  For reasons passed knowing, I feel badly 
about this.

    Billy certainly didn't deserve to be attacked while in the performance 
of his duty.  The attacking dog was the product of poor breeding and even 
poorer ownership, and nobody cared.

    The puppy mill in Florida certainly didn't care.  The dog's owner didn't 
care.  Hell! he turned his own dog in.  He said he didn't want that 
responsibility.

    And so, a dog is dead and another dog may never guide again.

    Billy is still getting warm compresses twice a day and antibiotics and 
steroids for the swelling.

    This will be one of John Vandervort's last weeks here in Stockton.  He's 
moving away to some place where people are kinder and where the light rails 
run every ten minutes.  I for one shall miss him.  Good luck John.
