SIMBA GOES TO SCHOOL IN 13 DAYS 

DEAF STUDENT WILL BRING HEARING DOG TO SCHOOL!

NEW LAW LEAVES NO ROOM FOR A SCHOOL TO DENY ACCESS! 

HEATHER HANLON-PIERON, MOTHER OF ERIN HANLON, WHO TESTIFIED AGAINST SIMBA
GOING TO SCHOOL, JOINS IN THE FIGHT TO BRING SIMBA TO SCHOOL! 

After being denied a Temporary Restraining Order by the Federal Court, JOHN
CAVE JR. Appealed to the United States Court of Appeals. The Appeal is
scheduled
to be heard in November of this year. However, pursuant to the change in New
York Human Rights Law by the legislature earlier this year, the language of
New York State Law now leaves no room for East Meadow School District to
deny John Cave Jr. & SIMBA access to the school. 

After the Federal Court's ruling, New York State passed a law that removed
the language from the Human Rights Law cited by the Federal Court in denying
the Restraining Order. The New York Legislature, stating clearly that they
were not passing a new law, but CLAIRIFYING the existing law, has made it
unmistakable
that any disabled person accompanied by a hearing, guide or service dog must
be admitted to all public facilities. The law becomes affective October 1,
2007. 

New York State also passed a new criminal law, making it a criminal offense
to interfere with a hearing, guide or service dog. Under this new penal law,
any person who interferes with or prevents, a hearing, guide or service dog,
from performing their dutes, is subject to arrest and a term of
imprisonment,
if convicted. 

On Oct. 3rd, John Cave Jr. and SIMBA will return to school. What will the
School do to accommodate Erin Hanlon? Will they Obey the Law and accommodate
both
children?
