>
> MINNEAPOLIS Muslim cabdrivers at Minneapolis-St. Paul International
Airport
> are offering blind people and their guide dogs free rides during an
> upcoming
> convention.
>
> The Muslim cabbies are under fire for allegedly refusing service on
> religious grounds. Many Muslims believe dogs are unclean.

But about 300 cabbies are offering free rides to people attending the
National Federation of the Blind convention next month.

They hope to counter the perception that they refuse to carry service dogs.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations says the cabbies claim such
refusals never took place.
>
The president of the federation's Minnesota chapter gave the offer of free
rides a cool reception. Joyce Scanlan says she'd prefer the cab drivers
simply do their jobs.
